Bhubaneswar: The High Level Tank near the AG Square has done a credible job by supplying over 100 or even more water tankers daily to the needy people and especially those staying in slum pockets across the city.
The water tanker service is booked through a landline number 0674-2390433 and the water is supplied free of cost by the Public Health Engineering Organiation (PHEO).
Under Division I of PHEO in the city, the tank works tirelessly by a core team of more than 10 people from 5.30 am to late night, at times till 1 pm and beyond as the demand for water after the very severe cyclonic storm has gone up.
Though more than 40 percent areas in the State Capital have started getting PHEO pipe water supplies foe last three days, the High Level Tank is doing its bit in order to quench the thirst of thousands of slum residents in various localities.
The service of High Level Tank started especially for the cyclone victims, after May 3 and the Commissionerate Police officials are actively monitoring the situation and service as at several places across the city tanker distribution created tension as the water supply demand has gone up suddenly. Now an ACP-ranked official is monitoring the situation at the High Level Tank with a section of police force guarding the facility 24X7.
Police Commissioner is also monitoring the water supply on daily basis to ensure a smooth functioning of the system,’’ said a senior police official.
