FANI Aftermath: Odisha Govt Allocates Rs 197.59 Crore Towards House Building Assistance

Bhubaneswar: Housing is one of the sectors which has sustained severe damage due to the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘FANI’ and Puri is the worst affected district. As per the damage assessment and enumeration conducted by the Puri district administration, as many as 2,87,762 families have been affected on account of damage to their houses/huts.

While 9,059 pucca and kutcha houses have been fully damaged, 1,04,715 houses have been severely damaged. Similarly, 1,13,221 pucca houses and 49,529 kutcha houses have been partially damaged. 2,178 huts and 1,19,694 cow shed have also been damaged.

As per the Norms of State Disaster Response Fund and National Disaster Response Fund, a person whose house (pucca or kutcha) has been fully or severely damaged will get house building assistance of Rs 95,100.

Assistance amounting to Rs 5,200 will be paid for partial damage of pucca house, Rs 3,200 for partial damage of kutcha house, Rs 4,100 for damage of hut and Rs 2,100 for damage of cowshed. In the first phase, funds amounting to Rs 197.59 crore have been provided to the Collector, Puri for disbursement of house building assistance at the following rates:

  1. Fully damaged pucca and kutcha house – Rs 20,000 (1st instalment)
  2. Severely damaged pucca and kutcha house – Rs 10,000 (1st instalment)
  3. Partially damaged pucca house – Rs 5,200 (Full payment)
  4. Partially damaged Kutcha house – Rs 3,200 (Full payment)
