FANI Aftermath: Rs 20747294 Expended On Manpower Engaged In Odisha Power Restoration

Bhubaneswar: In the aftermath of severe cyclonic storm FANI that hit hard on the power sector of Odisha after its landfall on May 3 morning this year, Rs 20747294 has been expended from the State’s coffers on the manpower engaged in restoration of the devastated power sector across the State.

This has been informed to the House by Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra in reply to a question posed by Keonjhar (BJP) MLA Mohan Charan Majhi during the ongoing Budget Session of Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA).

Apprising the House by quoting the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) data, the Energy Minister said that 4000 manpower had been outsourced from Andhra Pradesh, 2000 from West Bengal, 1000 from Karnataka, 500 from Kerala and 200 from Madhya Pradesh.

As Puri district had been worst-affected, Rs 513000 alone spent on 600 skilled, 200 semi-skilled and 200 unskilled manpower engaged in Puri Municipality area for the restoration of power supply, the Minister informed the Assembly based on the OPTCL data.  

So far the worst-affected district  is concerned, Rs 103710 spent on manpower for power supply restoration in Konark NAC, Rs 98580 in Nimapara NAC, Rs 104265 in Pipili NAC, Rs 342600 in Astaranga block, Rs 164160 in Brahmagiri block, Rs 168180 in Delanga block, Rs 163050 in Gop block, Rs 92340 in Kakatpur block, Rs 168735 in Kanas block, Rs 159030 in Krushnaprasad block, Rs 338580 in Nimapara block, Rs 320625 in Pipili block, Rs 697680 in Puri Sadar block, Rs 207765 in Satyabadi block.

Similarly, lots of amount has been spent on the manpower engaged in power supply restoration in districts of Khurda, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Ganjam, Rayagada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

While Rs 179550 has been spent on the engaged manpower in Bhubaneswar Municipality limits, Rs 41040 has been spent in Cuttack Municipality area and Rs 17955 in Choudwar Municiplaity area, the OPTCL data revealed.
