Bhubaneswar: Telecommunication and banking facilities, which had faced a major setback after the landfall of cyclone FANI in Odisha, has almost resumed in Bhubaneswar, said secretary of Information and Public Relation, Sanjay Singh on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons, Singh said five master switching centers, two of BSNL and one each of Vodafone, Jio and Airtel, control the entire telecommunication network in Bhubaneswar.
While four of them including that of BSNL, Jio and Vodafone are now receiving power supply, there is some internal technical problem in the master switching centre of Airtel, which will be charged after the issue is sorted out.
The banking facilities are also returning to normal and many banks have started functioning. But due to some network problem there has been problem in internet based services, said Singh.
While some ATMS of SBI, HDFC and UCO bank have started functioning, the RBI has also informed of sending adequate amount of cash to cyclone affected areas, he added.
Singh further informed that though banking facilities is yet to resume in Puri, steps are being taken to send mobile ATMs to the district to restart banking services.
