Koraput: A farmer, Laiban Batra committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Monday. A native of Putra village in Rabanaguda area of the district.
Jeypore Sadar police have registered a case of unnatural death and investigating the case. According to Laiban’s son, Khagapati Bhatra, he had taken loans to conduct the final rites of his father.
“My father was having loans and was unable to start farming because there was no money left. He was working as a sharecropper in a piece of ancestral property,” Khagapati said.
