Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a farmer was electrocuted while working in his paddy field at Narsinghpur village under Chandabali NAC in Bhadrak district on Friday.
Farmer Pramod Das was burnt alive after coming in contact with a live 11 KV electric wire on his farm land. The high-tension wire, which passed through Das’ land, proved fatal when he touched it while harvesting paddy early morning.
Das suffered severe burns and died at the scene. On being informed, firefighters arrived immediately and extinguished the fire, but unfortunately, Das succumbed to his injuries.
The incident sparked tension among the villagers, who alleged that Das’ death was a result of the power company’s negligence. In protest, the villagers gathered in front of the electricity office, demanding compensation for the deceased farmer’s family. However, no response has been received from the electricity company yet.
The situation remains tense, with the villagers threatening to continue their protest until the administration or concerned officials respond and address their concerns.
