Farmer Struck By Lightning While Feeding Cattle In Balangir

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a farmer died due to a lightning strike at Padhanpali village of Kuhibahal gram panchayat in Balangir district’s Binika block on Wednesday afternoon. Rajiv Padhan, a 36-year-old farmer, tragically lost his life after being struck by lightning while feeding his cattle around 1:30 pm.

According to reports, Padhan was rushed to Dunguripali hospital by his family members, where the doctor declared him dead on arrival. The local police were informed. Kuhibahal sarpanch Sudam Padhan confirmed the incident.

Padhan leaves behind a three-month-old baby girl, and his untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the community. Following the incident, Rampur police conducted an inquest at Dunguripali hospital and sent the body to Binika hospital for autopsy.

The news of Padhan’s passing has spread grief in the local area.
