Farmers’ Interest Is Priority, No Laxity Will Be Tolerated, Says Minister

Bhubaneswar: It is very crucial to ensure that the benefits of Government schemes and programmes are availed by genuine beneficiaries. Implementation of 5T charter and principles of ‘Mo Sarkar’ is the right step in this direction, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department Minister Arun Sahu said today.

Addressing a video conference at Krushi Bhavan here, Sahu said, there is no place for corruption in governance and dereliction of duty by Government servants will not be tolerated. He directed the officials of his department in districts to achieve the target by March 31 and spend the funds allocated for the programmes.

“We must ensure that our farmer brothers and sisters do not face any inconvenience. They should run from door to door for their grievances. Their concerns must be addressed on priority,” said Sahu. The officials in districts should tour rural areas and make surprise visits to offices, the Minister added.

Department Secretary Saurabh Garg said the Panchayat level meetings on every Monday is bearing fruits. The farmers at the grassroots are able to raise their concerns in the right forum and redressal is being done at the earliest. ‘Dakshyata’ is a prgramme under which the nicely performing employees are rewarded while the one’s who dilly dally in their work face action, he said.
