Bhubaneswar/Soro: In response to the nationwide ‘Chakka Jam’ protest call given by the farmers agitating against the three Farm Laws being enacted by the BJP-led NDA Government and also demanding its total withdrawal, the activists of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathgan (NNKS) and other farmers’ unions today resorted to the three-hour-long stir from 12 noon.
The protesters under the banner of NNKS today blocked the busy national highway (NH)-16 at Hansapal Square on the outskirts of Odisha’s capital city right from 12 noon following which traffic movement came to a grinding halt.
Sources said that the NNKS activists staged the ‘Chakka Jam’ stir at about 23 places across the State and tried to sensitize the general public against the three controversial Farm Laws of the Centre.
Similarly, the farmers under the banners of Akhil Bharatiya Krushak Sangathan (All India Farmers’ Union) and Communist Party of India (CPI) blocked the NH-16 stretch near Uttareshwar in Soro area under Balasore district today.
They also gave several slogans against the three Farm Laws and the Modi Government.
