Bhubaneswar: Veteran politician Bhujabal Majhi and his daughter Lipika Majhi are going to test their fate in electoral battle as Congress selected them to contest separately in Nabarangpur.
Bhujabal has been given a ticket to contest for Lok Sabha while his daughter has expected to get elected to Assembly on the same party ticket.
Bhujabal has been fielded from Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituency. He was earlier elected from Dabugaan Assembly segment in 2009 and 2014, but lost in the 2019 election.
In the 2024 general election, Majhi has been a candidate from Nabarangpur Lok Sabha on Congress ticket. He is said to have a tough fight with BJD’s Pradeep Majhi and BJP’s Balabhadra Majhi.
On the other hand, his daughter Lipika who left her medical profession for politics, has been following the footprint of her father.
She has been active in politics since 2022 panchayat elections. Lipika is a Zilla Parishad member from Papadahandi Block.
The Congress has picked her as the party nominee from her father’s seat Dabugaan. She will take on BJD’s Manohar Randhari who had dfeated Lipika’s father Bhujabal in 2019.
