**Malkangiri: ** In a shocking incident an elderly man and his 26-year-old daughter were found hanging in a room at the latter’s in-laws house at MV 79 village in Malkangiri District on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sujog Sarkar(55) and Anjali Sarkar. The neighbours spotted the bodies and informed Anjali’s brother Sanjay about the fateful incident.
Sanjay rushed to the spot and informed the matter to the police. Incidentally, Anjali’s in-laws and her husband are on the run since Tuesday morning.
Suspecting the involvement of his sister’s in-laws in the duo’s death, Sanjay lodged a complaint at the local police station.
“I tried calling my father multiple times but there was no response since last night. My sister was being tormented by her in-laws who have killed her and my father,” Sanjay said.
IIC of MV 79 police station, Jagdish Bara said, a case has been registered under multiple Sections of the IPC and Dowry Protection Act. The police have recovered two suicide notes from the spot of crime.
The bodies of the deceased were recovered in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and sent for autopsy to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital. Further investigation is on, Bara added.
