Bhubaneswar: A tragic accident occurred near Kothiasahi on the Cuttack-Paradip state highway in which a man and his 9-year-old daughter were killed.
Rajkishore Biswal and Lori Biswal, residents of Belpur village under Kujang police station, were riding a bike home from DPS School in Paradip Refinery when a gravel-laden truck (ID 09 7255) coming from Cuttack to Paradip hit them. The impact was fatal, and both died on the spot, just 100 meters away from their home.
The accident sparked widespread outrage, with locals blocking the Cuttack-Paradip highway in protest. The blockade caused significant disruptions, prompting police to intervene and pacify the agitators. Authorities have seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Locals have demanded compensation for the victims’ family and strict action against the reckless driver. The police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
