Bhubaneswar: A father-son duo was killed after being run over by an unknown vehicle at Baliguda in Kandhamal district.

The deceased have been identified as Hema Kanhar and his son Nilakantha, residents of Sirshipanga village under Rutungia panchayat under Baliguda police limits.

According to reports, Hema and his son, Nilakantha, were riding their bike from Raipanga village to their home at Sirshipanga when an unknown vehicle hit them near Galigura Ghati on Sunday night.

Hema died on the spot, while his son was critically injured and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors.

The incident has sparked tension in the village, with locals expressing outrage over the delayed arrival of the ambulance, which they believe could have saved the lives of the duo.

Upon being received the information, Baliguda police have reached the accident site and seized the bodies. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. An investigation into the incident is underway, with police working to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run accident.
