Bhubaneswar: A female bear died of electrocution in Malkangiri district.

As per the report, the wild animal is suspected to have sneaked into MV-17 village in search of food. He came in contact with live wires near a Shiva temple in the village under Malkangiri block and died on Tuesday night. Locals found him dead on Wednesday morning and informed forest officials in this regard.

It is said that the bear wandered into MV-17 village in pursuit of food, likely due to habitat encroachment or scarcity of resources in its natural habitat. Unfortunately, the animal’s search for sustenance led it to a fatal encounter with the live wires of a transformer near a Shiva temple in the village.

On a tip-off, forest officials reached the spot and sent the body of the bear for post-mortem.
