Bhubaneswar: The autopsy report of Dr Subhashree Kar, who was found dead in her quarter at Baneikala under Joda police limits in Keonjhar district on January 1, revealed that she died due to poisoning.
The autopsy was done on Monday at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH). According to the report, Kar had consumed a poisonous substance and succumbed to its effects. The exact type of poison has not been revealed yet.
Kar was working in the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Baneikala. On January 1, her body was retrieved from her room located on the PHC premises. The police had recovered a bottle from her room having some white powder inside it.
The white powder bottle and the viscera will be sent to the forensic laboratory in Bhubaneswar for a test.
It was also found that on 20 December 2022, Kar had filed a complaint against a male doctor Dibyaranjan Majhi. She accused him of raping her on the false promise of marriage. However, she had later withdrawn her complaint.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter. They are yet to make any arrests in the case. They are also trying to ascertain if Kar committed suicide or if someone else was involved in her death.
