Bhubaneswar: A student allegedly stabbed his classmate following an altercation in front of the school at Sanakemundi block in Ganjam district, on Friday.
The incident took place at Ramachandrapur Raghunath High School under Patapur police jurisdiction. Both of them are classmates and are studying in Class IX, sources said.
The injured student is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
According to sources, the incident unfolded at around 9 am before the commencement of the first period. The two students apparently had a fight over sitting in a particular place in the classroom. Their fight took an ugly turn when one of them stabbed the other.
The injured student was admitted to Sergarh Hospital initially. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Police, meanwhile, detained the accused student and started interrogating him.
