Bhubaneswar: The Finance Department on Monday sanctioned a 3% hike in dearness allowance (DA) of State Government employees drawing pay in revised scale of pay, 2017. On December 31, 2021, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced the hike after which the State Government employees’ DA increased from 28% to 31% of the Basic Pay.
The hike will be effective from July 1, 2021, an office order by the Finance Department stated. Similarly, the Dearness Relief for pensioners has also been increased by 3 percent. The decision would benefit 7.5 lakh Odisha government employees and pensioners, Government sources said.
Apart from this, the State Government has decided to pay 30 percent of the arrears of employees on the 7th Pay Commission. Earlier, they received 50 percent of the arrears of their increased pay from January 2016 to August 2017. It will benefit 6 lakh government employees in the state.
“All India Service Officers serving in the affairs of State Government for which GA at PG Department will issue Orders separately,” the Finance Department order read.
“The Additional dose of D.A. will be paid in cash and can be drawn in the Pay Bill of January, 2022 and onwards. Arrear from the month of July, 2021 to December, 2021 on account of the enhanced DA shall not be drawn before the date of disbursement of salary of January, 2022,” the order further stated.
