Financial Consultant Awarded 3 Years Rigorous Imprisonment In Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court here on Tuesday sentenced Laxminarayan Satapathy, a former Financial Consultant in the office of the District Project Co-ordinator (DPC), Sarba Sikhya Abhijan (SSA), Rayagada to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 2 years and 3 years under section 7 and 13(2) PC Act, 1988 respectively after convicting him in a bribery case.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Satapathy on each count.  On default of payment of fine Satapathy has to undergo RI for 3 months, the court ruled.

Further, both the sentences will run concurrently, the court added in its verdict.

Convict Satapathy was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
