Fingers, Toes Cut Off Of Odia Bonded Labourer In Maharashtra

Nuapada: A man from Tikrapada village under Komna block in Nuapada district of Odisha working as a bonded labourer in Nagpur of Maharashtra had to lose three fingers and five toes for asking his dues.

Reportedly, the victim Chamru Paharia and few others had been taken by two middlemen Dola Satnami and Bidesi Sunani of the village in the month of July to work as construction workers in Nagpur.  

It was when Chamru asked for his payment, the two middlemen got him drunk and after he lost consciousness allegedly cut off three fingers and five toes of his right hand and leg.

Following it they dumped him at Nagpur Railway Station where he was rescued by railway police and admitted at a government hospital. It was after Chamru regained his strength, he returned to his village.

The incident came to light after Chamru visited the Komna CHC for treatment of his infected wound. The doctor attending him informed the police following which a probe into the matter was initiated, said sources.
