Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Works Department conducted a comprehensive review of its ongoing projects under the chairmanship of Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan at Lok Seva Bhawan. The review meeting aimed to assess the current status and progress of various construction projects under the department.
The progress of several key projects, including the Sonepur-Binika-Rampur-Dunguripalli Road, Marshaghai-Jambu Road, Berhampur Ring Road, and Cuttack Ring Road (from Khannagar to Link Road), was reviewed during the meeting.
The Minister also inquired about the plan approval and construction progress of the High Level Bridge over the Subranarekha River at Gobarghat, the Second High Level Bridge over the Mahanadi at Baunchanti in Boudh district, the High Level Bridge over the Kharasrota River at Nuabazar, and the High Level Bridge over the Subranarekha River at Pantel.
A detailed review of all major projects in the state, including roads, bridges, buildings, National Highways, and OBCC projects, was conducted during the meeting. For the first time, all departmental officers, consultants, and contractors participated in the review and discussed the progress of work and problems faced.
The meeting also reviewed the infrastructure of Teaching Hospitals in Balasore, Baripada, Koraput, Phulbani, and Puri, Capital Hospital, and the status of SCB Medical College under construction.
Minister Harichandan directed the officers and agencies to complete all construction work within the stipulated time frame and emphasized the importance of focusing on the quality of work. He suggested strengthening the long-distance road network and increasing the durability of construction infrastructure in the state.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Works Department, Vir Vikram Yadav, EIC (Civil) Purna Chandra Mohapatra, Managing Director, OBCC, Sameer Hota, Special Secretary, Works Department, Laxmikant Padhi, along with Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, and senior officers of contracting agencies from various zones.
On the occasion, Minister Harichandan flagged off a mobile van equipped with the latest technology and equipment to inspect the quality of various construction projects.
