Keonjhar: A fire broke out at the Ghasipura branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Keonjhar district in the wee hours of Friday.
According to sources, locals noticed smoke billowing from the bank’s office around dawn and informed the branch manager, who immediately alerted the fire brigade department.
On a tip-off, firefighters rushed to the spot without delay and brought the situation under control with the help of two fire engines.
However, firefighters struggled to contain the blaze at the SBI branch, as dense smoke engulfed the entire building, hindering their efforts to extinguish the flames.
Fortunately, no major damage was reported, and only some papers and a computer in the field officer’s cabin were damaged in the fire. The branch manager reported that no significant damage occurred due to the fire.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.
