Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput due to a short circuit at the SNCU unit of the Maternal and Pediatric Department, on Friday.
As per the report, the blaze triggered by a short circuit, filled the entire ward with thick smoke. Fortunately, swift action by the hospital authorities ensured the safe evacuation of all patients and personnel, with no reported casualties.
The fire led to the evacuation of newborns and pregnant women from the ward. The medical staff and relatives of the patients were also shifted to a safe location. The police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and tried to put off the smoke from the building.
