Bhubaneswar: A minor fire broke out in government quarters at Unit-2 area here following the explosion of firecrackers in the house on Thursday morning causing significant damage to the property. However, no casualty was reported.
On being informed Fire Services personnel rushed to the site and brought the fire under control before the flames could spread to nearby houses.
According to reports, the fire broke out at Type-2 quarters number 13/2 after the firecrackers stored in a room exploded. It is alleged that the firecrackers were manufactured illegally in the quarters.
The government quarters were reportedly allotted to one Niranjan Lenka, who is posted at the state Secretariat.
