Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped residents after a fire broke out in an apartment building at Satya Vihar in Bhubaneswar on Thursday afternoon.
The blaze originated on the third floor of the residential complex and quickly led to heavy smoke engulfing parts of the building.
On noticing the fire, residents rushed out of their homes as flames and thick smoke spread rapidly through the premises.
Fire services were alerted immediately, following which two fire engines were rushed to the spot. Firefighters launched swift operations to bring the situation under control and to prevent the fire from spreading to other floors of the building.
Eyewitnesses said the rapid spread of smoke forced several families to evacuate in a hurry, creating moments of chaos in the area.
Fire personnel worked for a considerable time to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of residents.
Officials confirmed that no casualties have been reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
