Sundargarh: A devastating fire engulfed a popular restaurant situated under Sundargarh police station in the wee hours of Friday, causing widespread destruction and significant loss.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out around 1:30 am due to a short circuit near the cash counter of the restaurant. The flames quickly spread throughout the restaurant, engulfing the entire premises.
As per reports, there were 15 employees inside the restaurant when the fire broke out. They managed to escape by climbing to the roof, from where they were rescued by the fire department.
The fire destroyed nearly lakhs of property, including 10 refrigerators and four scooters. The fire department arrived promptly and brought the blaze under control.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. The restaurant’s management has estimated the loss to be over Rs 10 lakh.
