Balasore: Fire broke out in the office building of Green Ray International Lts (GRIL) chit-fund company at Bada Bazar in Jaleswar of Balasore district on Friday.
Though the exact reason of the fire has not been established, it is believed that miscreants set fire to the office which has already been seized in the chit fund scam.
Following the incident, the fire tender unit reached the spot and launched an operation to douse the blaze.
The building remained shut after the building was seized by the CBI during the course of investigation.
The Green Ray chit fund company has cheated gullible investors of crore of rupees. The multicores scam is being probed by the CBI.
Initially, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch had investigated the scam. Later, CBI took over the case.
The company MD Mir Sahiruddin was arrested by the CBI in 2017.
The GRIL is accused of duping investors not only in Odisha but also outside the State of Rs 1000 crore.
In 2012, the GRIL had launched its operation in Balasore and started collecting money through different schemes promising high returns.
