Firecrackers Worth Rs 70 Lakh Seized From Illegal Manufacturing Units In Aska, 3 Held

Aska: In a major crackdown, police today raided illegal firecracker manufacturing units at Nalabanta village under Aska police limits in Ganjam district and arrested three persons in this connection.

A team of police officers and two platoons of Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP) raided the manufacturing units at Nalabanta around forenoon today.

Officials seized eight mini truckloads of firecrackers, gun powder, palm leaf, raw explosives, nitrogen powder, sulphur powder, charcoal, and other raw materials used in manufacture of firecrackers estimated to be worth around Rs 70 lakh during the raid.

“We have arrested three persons in this connection. The arrested have been identified as Laba Behera, Jitu Pradhan, and Ranjan Pradhan of Nalabanta village. 12 others managed to flee from the spot,” informed Aska IIC Prasant Kumar Sahu.

The raid was conducted in the presence of G Raghavendra IPS probationer, Aska SDPO Suryamani Pradhan, Bhanjanagar Sub Collector Rajendra Minj, and local Tehsildar Sadanand Sethi, police sources said.
