Bhubaneswar: Regulated Market Committee under the Odisha State Agriculture Marketing Board, Department of Co-operation conducted its first Buyer-Seller Meet of the year 2023 today at Mission Shakti Hall, Nabarangpur.
District Collector Dr Kamal Lochan Mishra, CEO Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society Guha Punam Tapas Kumar (ORMAS), GM OSAM Board Dharitri Mishra, Sub-collector -cum- Chairman RMC Nabarangpur Prasanta Kumar Raut, Chief District Agriculture Officer were present.
The meet provided an exclusive platform for one-on-one interaction among FPO, traders, Regulated Market committee and district administration on various aspects of maize trading in Nabarngpur. The event was attended by more than 120 participants including 40 Farmers, 33 FPOs, 17 WSHGs, 18 traders and 3 institutional buyers. Elaborated presentation and discussion on maize production and procurement scenario in the district.
Regulated Market Committee facilitates Post Harvest Management, Processing, Assaying facilities, electronic trading facility of e-NAM and other regulatory reforms by Odisha State Agriculture Marketing Board. The key facilitation feature of 50% waiver off on godown facilities for FPOs/ WSHGs was very well received among the stakeholders.
Extensive discussion on the key challenges and expectation of the stakeholders including both FPOs and Traders was done during one of the sessions.
The event was concluded with signing of 10 Tri-party non-binding MoUs with 14 clauses specifying the roles of each party and terms of associations between FPOs, Traders and Regulated Market Committee. The MoU emphasised on quality of procurement through FPOs by the traders on agreed terms of payment. Facilitation Role of Regulated market Committee encompassing all necessary provisions by the committee as a third party was drafted.
