Fisherman Drowns In Balimela Reservoir, Search Operation Underway

Bhubaneswar: A fisherman lost his life after a country boat carrying five persons capsized in the Balimela Reservoir near Nakamamudi village under Korukonda block of Malkangiri district late Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ramchandra Pangi, a resident of the area.

According to reports, five fishermen had set out for fishing in the reservoir when their boat overturned under unknown circumstances. While four of them managed to swim to safety, Pangi went missing.

Following intimation, a team from the Chitrakonda Fire Brigade reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the missing fisherman. The operation to recover the body was underway at the time of reporting.

Further investigation into the incident is on.
