Berhampur: A fisherman went missing after a trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal off the Ganjam coast in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
According to officials, seven fishermen from the Chhatrapur area had set out to sea from Podampeta beach near Rushikulya Muhan around 4 am. The trawler overturned shortly after due to high tidal waves. While six fishermen managed to swim safely back to shore, one remains untraced.
Personnel of Odisha Fire Services and the Arjyapalli Marine Police have launched a search and rescue operation. Two teams from Rambha and Chhatrapur fire stations, assisted by scuba divers, are currently engaged in the operation to locate the missing fisherman.
