Bhubaneswar: The last day for filing nominations for the four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha is today.
Five candidates from Odisha have been confirmed to file their nominations, including Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Santupt Misra and Datteswar Hota from the Biju Janata Dal, and Dilip Ray as an independent candidate.
The BJP is expected to win two seats, while the BJD is likely to secure one seat. The fourth seat is contested, with the Congress party supporting Dr Datteswar Hota, a common candidate, to block the BJP’s potential third seat.
It is pertinent to mention that despite the notification being published on February 26, no one has filed their nomination papers so far. The nomination scrutiny will take place on March 6, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 9. Voting is scheduled for March 16, and the results will be announced on the same day.
