Bhubaneswar: A Berhampur court has convicted five individuals for the gruesome murder of businessman Lambodhar Muni in 2020.
The convicts, identified as Rupesh Kumar Padhi, Srinu Patra, Shiba Mahakud, Ranjit Sahu, and Sankar Sahu, were found guilty under sections 460, 396, and 201 of IPC.
The case, initially investigated by Berhampur police, was later handed over to CID CB following a High Court directive. The investigation revealed that the accused had looted cash and gold ornaments from Muni’s office and residence. The prosecution presented 41 witnesses and relied on CCTV footage, CDRs, and other evidence to establish the charges.
The convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000 each under section 396 IPC. Additional sentences include 10 years RI and Rs 5,000 fine under section 460 IPC, and 5 years RI with Rs 3,000 fine under section 201 IPC.
