Balasore: Five cybercriminals have been arrested for siphoning off Rs 12.45 lakh from the bank account of one Jyotsna Rani Patra from Nilagiri town in Balasore district.
Based on a complaint lodged by Patra at Cyber Police Station, Balasore, on December 29, 2021, the police traced the bank transaction and found that the amount had been transferred to several accounts in Kolkata, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Sundargarh in Odisha.
During the investigation, it was found that the husband of the bank account holder in Sundargarh is involved in the crime and is a history-sheeter. After being apprehended, he revealed the details about his associates.
Based on the findings, the Cyber Police formed a six-member team and nabbed the remaining four accused persons from various places. Police also seized Rs 1.69 lakh, 10 mobile phones, and 39 SIM cards from their possession.
