Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has approved the Utkarsh ITI Scheme, aiming to upgrade five Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into model institutions.
The selected ITIs – Govt. ITI Puri, Govt. ITI Bolangir, Govt. ITI Ambaguda (Koraput), Govt. ITI Rajkanika (Kendrapara), and Govt. ITI Rourkela (Sundargarh) – will be developed as zonal hubs for advanced training and skill development.
The upgraded ITIs will feature industry-ready infrastructure, including modern labs, smart classrooms, and digital learning spaces. They will also have Entrepreneurship Promotion and Placement Cells to support self-employment and job placements. The scheme aims to make Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems more competitive, inclusive, and aligned with emerging industry needs.
The upgraded ITIs will be strategically located near industrial and educational hubs, ensuring easy access and relevance to regional skill requirements.
