Five Held, 50 Trucks Seized In Jagatsinghpur Over Illegal Sand Extraction

Bhubaneswar:  In a significant operation, the Jagatsinghpur district administration has cracked down on the sand mafia in Jagatsinghpur district with the arrest of five drivers and seizure of over 50 trucks.

According to reports, the raid was conducted by the Jagatsinghpur District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and Central DIG on Tuesday night at the Kilipal sand quarry. The contractor, who had obtained a tender for the quarry, was found to be extracting sand beyond the prescribed limit, violating government rules.

Over 50 trucks were seized, and 5 drivers were arrested. One mobile phone was also confiscated.

Police forces have been deployed at the scene, and the trucks loaded with sand are being held at the quarry.
