Jajpur: Five persons including two women sustained burn injuries on Monday after a leaking domestic LPG cylinder caught fire at Badabiruhan village under Panikoili police limits in Jajpur district.
The two women who were severely burnt have been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack after first aid at Government Hospital in Jajpur Road.
According to reports, while one Kamalakanta Swain of Badabiruhan village was affixing the regulator of his gas stove to a freshly delivered refill LPG cylinder supplied by the LPG distributor it started leaking and caught fire from a wicker lamp (diya) lighted for puja.
Apart from Kamalakanta, his wife Gitanjali, mother Sarita and two of their neighbours have sustained burn injuries in the mishap.
They were rushed to the Government Hospital at Jajpur Road following the mishap. However, Gitanjali and her mother-in-law Sarita were shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack after first aid as their condition turned critical.
