Koraput/Sundargarh: Five persons were killed and one critically injured in two separate road accidents in Odisha during the last 24 hours.
In the first accident, five people were killed and one critically injured as the car in which they were travelling plunged off the Jodimadeli ghat road under Pottangi police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Tuesday night.
While the identity of the victims is yet to be ascertained, the injured passenger has been admitted to the Koraput Medical Center.
According to reports, the passengers of the car were on their way to Andhra Pradesh from Chhattisgarh.
Pottangi police have recovered the bodies and started an investigation into the matter.
In the second mishap, two people were killed in a road accident near Jharmunda under Badgaon police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on early Wednesday morning. The two victims were run over by a car while crossing the road. According to reports, the car was going to Sundargarh from Rourkela.
The deceased have been identified as Kshirod Pruseth of Jarangloi Basti and Sambaru Sahu.
The driver of the car tried to flee the spot after the accident but locals chased the vehicle and caught it near Jagatgarh near Sundargarh.
