Sundargarh: As many as five persons died and several others were injured when a private bus named Lingaraj traveling from Rourkela to Koida collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The accident occurred on the National Highway number 520 in Koida Block area under K Balang Police station limits in Sundargarh district, on Thursday.
The impact was severe, causing significant damage to the bus and resulting in multiple severe injuries. Emergency services were quickly alerted, and rescue teams rushed to the scene. Prompt response from the police and fire services helped rescue passengers trapped inside the bus.
Till the last report came in, police and fire brigade personnel were busy breaking through the bus windows to free those stuck, using cutters.
