Anandapur: A tragic fire accident triggered by an LPG gas cylinder left five members of a family with serious burn injuries in Tukuna village under Ghasipura police station limits of Keonjhar district on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 PM while the family of Akshaya Das was preparing dinner at their residence. According to sources, the LPG cylinder suddenly caught fire, causing panic and severe burn injuries to those present in the kitchen.
The injured have been identified as Akshaya Das (38), Jiban Das (28), Sipaly Das (20), Dolly Das (35), and an eight-year-old child, Nidhi Das. All five sustained serious burns in the mishap.
They were immediately rushed to the Anandapur Sub-Divisional Hospital, where they were provided first aid. Considering the severity of their injuries, doctors later referred them to SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack for advanced treatment.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. Further details are awaited.
