Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old girl died after an overhanging beam collapsed on her at Belang village under Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada district, on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Abanati, the youngest daughter of Kamsing Kadraka.

According to sources, Abanti was playing outside at her home when the overhanging beam collapsed on her. Her parents tried to avail 108 ambulance service but failed to avail the service due to incessant rain. As a result, the toddler died a few minutes after the freak accident.

Upon being informed, police registered an unnatural death case in this connection and sent the body for post-mortem.

Police, later, handed over the body to the deceased’s family after the autopsy report came.
