Bhubaneswar: Flight service between Utkela Airport in the Kalahandi district of Odisha and the state capital Bhubaneswar will be inaugurated on August 31. The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted the requisite license to the Utkela Airport on August 7, 2023.
Taking to his X handle, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated that the flight operation from the Utkela Airport will boost connectivity, commerce, and tourism, fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the region.
The Chief Minister wrote on his X handle, “Glad to share that #UtkelaAirport in #Kalahandi district has received DGCA license to start flight operations. Soon flight operations will commence to #Bhubaneswar. It will boost connectivity, commerce & tourism, fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the region”.
According to reports, IndiaOne Air will provide air service between Utkela Airport in Kalahandi and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and it will be extended to Raipur in Chhattisgarh later.
The state government has spent around Rs 162 crore for the acquisition of land, and construction of a runway and terminal building for the Utkela Airport.
