Bhubaneswar: Amid heavy floods across the State in the Mahanadi basin, teams of Odisha Fire Service personnel equipped with adequate equipment have been deployed at vulnerable locations.
As per reports, around 2,465 persons who were marooned were rescued while more than 120 animals have been moved to safer places amid a raging flood.
DG Fire Service Santosh Upadhyay informed that from August 14 to 17, as many as 146 main roads which were blocked have been cleared and communication restored.
In the process, more than 200 trees were cut to make way for commuters. The OFS teams have stationed 203 pumps to dewater flooded localities, he added. The relief and rescue work continues as Wednesday night remains critical because of the peak flood in the Mahanadi basin.
