Bhubaneswar: The Bhadrak district administration has declared a two-day holiday for schools in flood-affected areas, particularly in the Dhamnagar and Chandbali blocks.
The district administration took this decision as the flood situation continues to cast a shadow over several areas in the district, with waterlogging persisting in low-lying regions.
Despite a decrease in floodwater levels in the Baitarani River, waterlogging persists in low-lying areas. In the Dhamnagar block, four panchayats – Sohada, Padhani, Arjunpur, and Hasanabad – have been affected, with 26 schools impacted. Similarly, in Chandbali block, schools in Santrapur, Mua, BSS, Banka Munha, and Bodak have been affected, according to sources.
Meanwhile, the administration is closely monitoring the situation and working to mitigate the impact of the floods.
According to sources, the floodwaters have inundated low-lying areas, causing disruptions to normal life. The water level at the Akhuapada is at 18.33 meters, while the river is flowing at 17.77 meters at Sakhal.
