Bhubaneswar: The water level in the Hirakud dam reservoir was recorded as 622.6 feet at 6 am today. The dam was receiving 2.94 lakh cusec water from the upstream and releasing 4.76 lakh cusec through 28 sluice gates.
The discharge at Khairmal was 7.42 lakh cusec while the discharge at Barmul was 8.50 lakh cusec. Similarly, 9.64 lakh cusec water was flowing through Mundali barrage at 6 am today.
The IMD has forecast heavy rains in several parts of the State on Friday and Saturday due to a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. The authorities remain on alert to act as per necessity to check the water level and discharge from Hirakud dam, reports stated.
