Flood Water Washes Away Bridge In Dhenkanal, Road Connectivity Snapped

Dhenkanal: Road connectivity between Anantapur and Mahulpal gram panchayats of Dhenkanal district has been snapped as flash floods triggered by heavy rains washed away the connecting bridge between the two places on Saturday.

Reportedly, it occurred due to heavy flooding in the Kunda canal near Nayanilakanthapur in Bhuban block of the district. Similarly, the Rengali canal floodwaters in Bandh Sahi under Odisha panchayat of the district had left 2 families in waterlogged condition. They were later rescued and sheltered in a school.

National Highway 53 has been submerged underwater due to flooding in Damsal River. Hundreds of heavy vehicles are stranded on the road as traffic was disrupted. Water is flowing three feet above the road at Baunsakana due to heavy flooding in Pandra canal. As a result, the communication between Duburi and Bhuban has come to a standstill.

Twelve workers from Rankia village, who were engaged in Biju Setu project at Dadhisinga, were rescued by fire brigade personnel while being swept away in the floods.

Due to the construction of a railway overbridge near Kuninda, the administration is not able to release the water from Dhanei canal which has resulted in the flooding of the roads. The floodwaters have destroyed many paddy fields and have also swept away two buffalo calves.
