Bhubaneswar: When an oily material was discovered floating in the sea on Saturday, fear of an oil slick spread through Paradip, a port town in Odisha.
According to accounts, the sea water had become more frothy and had an oily substance of a green color floating in it when fishermen and residents of the town in the Jagatsinghpur district saw it.
Odisha Marine Fish Producers’ Association members confirmed the presence of an oily substance along a particular stretch.
The Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) officers gathered water samples from various locations along the coast where the oily substance was discovered and sent those for laboratory testing in the meantime.
