Cuttack: Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra made a surprise visit to Cuttack on Thursday evening to inspect various godowns in Malgodam and Chhatra Bazar potato godown.
During the visit, he checked the condition of the stored goods and confirmed that there is ample material available, indicating the government’s preparedness to handle any situation ¹.
Minister Patra advised godown owners and traders to cooperate with the government during natural calamities like cyclones and floods, refraining from unnecessarily increasing prices of essential commodities. He also emphasized the importance of clearly displaying prices of goods in warehouses and shops.
To ensure compliance, notices have been issued to five godowns under the Essential Commodities Act. In light of Cyclone Dana, the Food department has taken proactive measures to prevent price hikes and black marketing of essential commodities. Departmental officials are actively cracking down on violations in multiple locations, responding to various complaints.
