Bhubaneswar: Ommcom News, a leading media organization, celebrated the Joy of Giving Week, also known as Daan Utsav, by hosting a charity event on its office premises on Thursday. The event was a resounding success, with employees coming together to donate generously to support the needy.
Editor-in-Chief Jajati Karan and employees of Ommcom News wholeheartedly participated in the charity drive, donating various essential items, including clothing, stationery, utensils, toys and other necessities.
The donations were graciously accepted by Gagan Bihari Paital, a retired Postal Department employee, who has dedicated his life to collecting and distributing items to the needy.
Gagan, along with his wife Annapurna, collects donations from residents of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, meticulously cleaning, stitching, and ironing each item before distribution. Their philanthropic efforts extend beyond the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, reaching tribal-dominated villages across Odisha.
Gagan’s compassion knows no bounds; he also performs last rites for abandoned and unclaimed bodies. He has conducted funeral rites of over 1,500 persons in his life span. His selflessness embodies the true spirit of humanity.
Ommcom News was honoured to collaborate with Gagan, whose presence inspired staff to embrace acts of kindness and philanthropy. The charity event, held from October 2 to October 8, aligned with the Daan Utsav celebrations. This partnership fostered a culture of social responsibility, encouraging employees to make a positive impact on their community.
Gagan’s tireless efforts have transformed countless lives, earning him recognition as a guardian angel to the underprivileged.
