Bhubaneswar: In a major seizure, Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel at Dunguripali railway station in Subarnapur district recovered 19 foreign currency notes and Rs 2.69 lakh in Indian currency from a suspicious bag left unattended at the station.

According to reports, an RPF Havildar noticed a youth sitting with the bag and became suspicious. When questioned, the youth claimed to be waiting for the Puri-Durg train to go to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh and fled, leaving the bag behind.

The RPF team, along with railway security forces, seized the bag and found the Indian and foreign currencies, including notes from the UAE, Malaysia, China, and Thailand apart from Rs 2.69 lakh in Indian currency.

The concerned authorities are, meanwhile, investigating the identity of the youth and the purpose of carrying such a large amount of money.
