Bhubaneswar: A foreign tourist from Romania was caught inside the 11th-century Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar after he was spotted taking pictures on the temple premises. The name on his passport read as Andrei Cristian.
The incident occurred when security personnel and servitors caught the tourist near the Achyuta Kahanda area leading to the shrine.
The entry of the foreigner, who is not allowed inside the temple as per rules, led to a delay of about three and a half hours in the daily rituals. As per tradition, the temple was purified with lime water, and a special ritual was performed by the priests to cleanse the shrine.
The foreign tourist was taken into custody and his documents and passport are being verified by the police..
The incident has caused a quite flutter among the temple servitors and officials. The servitors demanded stricter security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
